Thanks to exceptional craftsmanship and thoughtful design, this newly extended bungalow home has a marvelous story to tell.
Beginning this story with our hero, a bold, contemporary stone island of Cote D’Azur marble that earns every second of the spotlight. Center-stage, our island is rich with character; grey veining adorns the natural surface. Veins which dramatically tumble down each waterfall end and journey through the recessed shelf niche.
This remarkable island is supported by a masterful cast of cabinets. NavUrban Balmoral colours the backdrop and entirely elevates the space. However, this material was only available in a flat finish, so each shaker framed door required 9mm thick strips of Balmoral methodically sliced and applied to each surface; then mitred at the corners and finally edged together to complete each piece. Specialty door hinges were then used to ensure the thicker door edges would not bind upon opening. A testament to the meticulous craftsmanship and precision invested into this project to not simply just overcome challenges but uncompromisingly find ways to realise the elegant design.

Another interesting twist in this tale came from integrating the full-sized fridge. Sitting against the long wall, the corner position blocked the fridge doors from fully opening to easily access the drawers inside. The solution simple and efficient – to symmetrically increase the infills flanking each end of the cabinetry, working in harmony with the space and intentionally considering appliance ergonomics.
There is also hidden depth to this kitchen. The integrated fridge and dishwasher, the zip-tap unit discreetly tucked under the sink, the built-in bin and microwave – all played their part in making this kitchen fully functional but meant that any available storage space needed to be maximised without any compromise to the design. So, the upper cabinets were stretched to the top of the three-meter ceiling, while inner drawers augment the pantry’s storage capacity. Under the oven, a subtle drawer solution, and along the back of the island, cupboards that open and offer yet more space.
This kitchen will not only tell the story of our team’s diligent work, attention to detail and innovation. But now, these spaces are ready for the client’s cookbooks, ready for their quirky keepsakes and precious family mementos, so that most importantly, they can start telling their story.
